We are the exclusive distributors in Puerto Rico of the GrainPro’s pesticide-free hermetic storage units provide long or medium term organic storage, eliminating the need for chemical insecticides and fumigants and, hence, the associated risks to farmers, agricultural laborers, consumers, wildlife and the environment, specifically the ozone layer. Even the worst insect infestations are rapidly controlled without chemical insecticides by GrainPro's hermetic storage units. Fungi do not grow in the low oxygen atmosphere of the Cocoons or SuperGrainbags, and therefore harmful aflatoxins do not spread.

In 1999 GrainPro introduced its patented Vacuum Hermetic Fumigation (V-HF) for storing high value commodities such as coffee, cocoa and spices. Grainpro and its partners also invented the patent-applied-for PITS "Pesticide-Free Integrated Transportation and Storage" system, currently in field use. Both technologies are now available for fumigating/storing high value crops. Pesticide free "fumigation" is typically done in less than three days at room temperature. For crushable high value commodities, such as figs, Gas Hermetic Fumigation (G-HF) Cocoons™ use of CO2 to achieve the same pest-free results.

GrainPro's portable storage systems can be used indoors or outdoors and be erected on any flat surface in minutes to hours, depending on the product.  In Puerto Rico these products are specially recommended to store dry coffee beans, rice, beans and any other dry agricultural product that requires maintaining its freshness while stored for many months or even years.

GrainPro Cocoons™ are airtight (hermetic), unsupported rectangular structures made of lightweight UV resistant PVC. The simple two-piece Cocoon consists of a top cover and bottom floor piece joined together with a PVC tongue-&-groove zipper similar to those used to close environmental safety suits. Insects trapped in the bagged grain expire in a matter of days as a result of an increase in carbon dioxide and reduction of oxygen. Cocoons are packed folded in a carry bag for transport and can be made ready for use in minutes.

The ultimate solution for quality preservation of agricultural commodities in bags. GrainPro has developed unique solutions for storage of agricultural commodities in airtight bags. Most agricultural commodities stored in these bags will develop a "modified atmosphere" of low oxygen and high carbon dioxide content.

This "hermetic storage" is created by respiration of living organisms in the commodity such as insects and fungi. Commodities can be stored for prolonged periods without the use of chemicals and refrigeration and without the risk of moisture ingress. The result is that aroma, color, freshness and germination are preserved, rancidity is prevented and insect infestation and fungi are controlled.
